Sunday Prototype – 08/12/12 – Skinth Lightning Quiver
The Skinth Lightning Quiver is a large, belt mounted holster for photographers.
Not only does it carry a full size SLR Speedlight, lens or microphone, it has a whole wack of pockets for the extra stuff that event photographers need to carry.
A 3″ wide slab of heavy nylon form the bomb proof belt clip. A network of 2″ hook and loop give the initial tack when doning the Skinth Lightning Quiver, but the double snaps secure the LQ to the photog’s belt.
A top grab handle aids extractraction the loaded Skinth from a larger bag.
Inside the Skinth LQ hosts the largest NIkon, Canon, Pentax etc external SLR flash. With a bit of extra room at the top, a short TTL cord can be stuffed on the top. The inside is lined with felt to provide a soft scratch proof interior for the equipment inside
On the inside is a slim pocket for a phone, wallet, business cards or whatever fits. Secured inside the back panel, this pocket is the safest place for those important items.
Borrowing a great idea from our favourite camera bag manufacturer, Think Tank Photo, we built our own ‘silencer’ flap.
Peeling the mating flaps to cover all the exposed loop, the noisy fastener is shut up for the time being.
Hook and Loop…silenced.
Adorning the outside of the Skinth LQ are a myriad of pockets and slots for various important items.
In this configuration, A PowerPax filled with AA’s, a tube of lip chap, an extra battery, a PocketWizard TT5 radio flash trigger, a Black Cat AAA flashlight and a Sharpie.
On the opposite side, a tube of gum and a customized Skeletool CX (PE 154cm Blade, flat bits and 5/32 & 9/64 Hex bits.
That’s all for this week!
